Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome is first observed after birth. Usually the facial features of the child points out the possibility of having the syndrome.

Wolf-Hirscchorn Syndrome presents prenatally with intrauterine growth delays, which is when the baby is smaller then average because the child is not growing at a normal rate. Some infants with WHS can be stillborn or die shortly after birth. Patients with WHS is described to have distinct facial features called "Greek Helmet facies." The facial features includes a small head, eyes spaced widely apart, downturn mouth, short upper lip and short grooves between upper lip and nose or bilateral cleft lip and small chin. The children later have severe growth delays. 90% of children with WHS has seizures. Later on at the age of 3-11, 50% of the children stop having seizures. Sleeping problems is common in children who has WHS.
Life Expectancy:
It's been estimated that 35% of individuals who have died within the first two years of life. The lifespan of individuals with WHS is unknown but there are several people with WHS who are between 20-40 years old.
